Aggravated assault nets 19 years

CLOVIS - A 44-year-old Clovis man was sentenced Monday to 19 years in prison for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

Lucio Torres was found guilty of the charge on Jan. 22 by a Curry County jury.

According to a news release from District Attorney Andrea Reeb:

• In May of 2019, Torres was arrested for threatening two men with a large knife. Torres resisted police officers during the arrest and drugs were located on him by detention officers at the Curry County Detention Center.

• Judge Matthew Chandler, citing Torres' extensive criminal history that includes 13 felony convictions, imposed the sentence.
