Michael Salgado returning to fair

CLOVIS — Michael Salgado will return to Clovis to headline Tejano Night as part of the 100th Curry County Fair this August, according to a release from the Curry County Events Center.

Salgado, a four-time winner at the Tejano Music Awards, will have a 7 p.m. Aug. 13 concert with Magali Delarosa as a special guest.

The concert will be part of the Thursday festivities at the Curry County Fair, which runs Aug. 11-15. General admission for the fair, which covers concert admission, is $7 for adults, $6 for seniors 55 and older and $3 for children 5-12.

Salgado is no stranger to the events center, having played there as part of the 2015 Clovis Music Festival. He first gained national attention with his 1995 single “Cruz De Madera,” and his “En Concierto” album the following year included top 20 hit “Sin Ela.”

Awards include a Tejano Music Award song of the year for “Ya No Voy a Aguntar,” and he took both a 2012 Grammy nomination for top Norteño band and a Billboard Latin Music award for best Mexican regional album. He has released 13 studio albums.

Delarosa was a 2016 Tejano Music Awards nominee for best new artist, and is set to release her fourth studio album this summer under Salgado’s label, Zurdo Records.
