ENMU rodeo women fourth, men fifth

ODESSA, Texas — Eastern New Mexico University’s rodeo teams kicked off the spring portion of their schedule over the weekend with the women posting a fourth-place team finish while the men took fifth in competition hosted by Odessa College.

Senior Sage Bell was responsible for all 100 of the women’s team points, placing second in goat tying.

For the men, Tee McLeod earned all-around honors for the rodeo, accounting for all 245 of the team’s points.

In goat tying, Bell qualified for the short go with a mark of 7.5 seconds in the first round, then clocked 7.2 seconds to finish second in the championship round.

McLeod qualified for the short round in steer wrestling with a time of 4.9 seconds, then won in Saturday’s championship round with a time of 4.0 for 105 points. He teams with South Plains College’s Stefan Ramon to win the long round in team roping at 5.2 seconds, then capped the weekend with a time of 10.9 seconds to finish third in the average and secure 140 points.

The next outing for ENMU is scheduled for March 26-28 in a Rodeo hosted by Ranger (Texas) College.
