Serving Clovis, Portales and the Surrounding Communities
CLOVIS — Mayor Mike Morris was appointed Thursday to a mayor’s panel of 16 from across New Mexico, according to a city release.
Morris, who took over as Clovis mayor on April 1, is part of a council appointed by Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham to provide “a source of input, advice, ideas and support a plan for reopening,” Chief of Staff John Bingaman said.
Morris said in the release that he will continue to advocate for safe practices and personal responsibility during the COVID-19 pandemic, but, “I expressed my belief that Clovis is ready, right now, to open with COVID-19 safe practices and metering restrictions in place.”
One of the first measures put in place reopened Colonial Park Golf Course on Friday.
The council’s next meeting is scheduled for Monday.
