Serving Clovis, Portales and the Surrounding Communities
PORTALES — Eastern New Mexico University regents will review graduation lists for all three of its campuses, and receive updates on a virtual graduation for the Portales campus during its Friday meeting.
The 1 p.m. meeting will be virtual due to public health orders on mass gatherings during the COVID-19 pandemic. Anybody wishing to attend the virtual meeting can email [email protected] or call 575-562-2091.
Commencement ceremonies were originally scheduled for Saturday, but regents voted to postpone services given uncertainty about state and federal guidelines on mass gatherings.
A virtual graduation ceremony is being prepared to air 10 a.m. May 30 on KENW 3-1 and 3-2 and online at enmu.edu. Speeches will be recorded in advance at the KENW studio, and students were given instructions on submitting photos to be part of a graduate slideshow.
The meeting will be the first with Patrice Caldwell as chancellor. She was appointed to the interim role following the April 24 resignation of Jeff Elwell.
Other items on the agenda include:
• A report from Athletic Director Matt Billings that will include an update on the women’s golf program and overall goals for the department.
• A report from Vice President for Business Affairs Scott Smart that will include updates on the university house, the university’s liquor license, efforts to sell the former Greyhound Stadium property and 2020-21 budget planning assumptions.
• A report on the Roswell branch’s COVID-19 response from President Shawn Powell.
• Fee change and budget adjustment requests for the Ruidoso branch.
• Operating budgets for the Portales and Ruidoso branches for 2020-21.
