Serving Clovis, Portales and the Surrounding Communities
The National Weather Service is predicting widespread showers and thunderstorms late Monday afternoon.
According to the forecast:
"A few storms across the east may become strong to severe with frequent lightning, large hail, and damaging winds the main threats. There is a marginal risk of severe thunderstorms across much of the eastern plains with a slight risk for Quay, Curry, and Roosevelt counties."
Dry conditions are expected to return on Tuesday across the region.
"Strong winds are expected to develop on Wednesday with the strongest winds across the northeast and east central plains," the forecast reads. "This may result in critical fire weather conditions in this area Wednesday afternoon."
