DoH announces free testing for all workers in state

SANTA FE — The New Mexico Department of Health has announced free COVID-19 testing is available for all workers in the state.

A state news release specified government employees, utility and construction workers, grocery and pharmacy employees, retailers and wholesalers and anybody in food service or other service industries. However, any New Mexican at work can receive access to a test, regardless of symptoms.

“Increased testing allows for increased case surveillance and contact tracing which helps us mitigate community spread and keep New Mexico safe,” Health Secretary Kathy Kunkel said in the release.

Local testing locations include:

• Curry County Public Health Office, 1216 Cameo St., Clovis (8:30 a.m.-10:30 a.m. weekdays, call 575-763-5583 for appointment).

• Advanced Practice Health Clinic, 2000 W. 21st St., Clovis (10 a.m.-1 p.m. weekdays, call 575-935-0320 for appointment).

• Roosevelt County Public Health Office, 1513 W. Fir St., Portales (8:30 a.m.-10:30 a.m. weekdays, call 575-356-4453 for appointment).

Other testing locations are listed at: cvprovider.nmhealth.org/directory.html

Testing is free, regardless of insurance, but people with insurance are asked to bring their cards.

People are also asked to limit vehicles to two people to avoid unnecessary risks for viral spread.

As of Tuesday, the state confirmed 5,069 positive tests for COVID-19, with 31 in Curry County and 11 in Roosevelt County. There have been 208 deaths and 1,300 cases designated as recoveries.

The state also continues to maintain two COVID-19 hotlines — 855-600-3453 for health-related questions and 833-551-0518 for any other matters.
