Serving Clovis, Portales and the Surrounding Communities
CLOVIS — The Eastern New Mexico Water Utility Authority will meet Thursday for its first time as a six-person board.
The 3 p.m. meeting at the Sitterly Professional Center will be conducted via conference call due to public health orders on mass gatherings during the COVID-19 pandemic. To join the meeting, call 512-402-2718 and enter meeting ID 1765799784#
The new makeup of the board was official May 20, and was amended by the state Legislature in response to the withdrawals of Curry County, Melrose and Grady.
Previously, the board served with seven members — three Clovis representatives, two Portales representatives, one Curry County representative and one representative that alternated annually between Melrose, Grady, Texico and Elida.
Starting with this meeting, the board eliminates the Curry County position held by Robert Thornton, and the rotating position is only between Texico and Elida. Chris Bryant has been serving as secretary since Thornton’s departure.
Items on the agenda include:
• The preliminary 2020-21 operating budget.
• Discussion of the Ute Reservoir water reservation contract.
• A service agreement with Hinkle & Lander for accounting work.
