Serving Clovis, Portales and the Surrounding Communities
CANNON AIR FORCE BASE — Officials at Cannon Air Force Base have relaxed restrictions implemented during the COVID-19 pandemic, with designated times created for retirees and Veterans Affairs beneficiaries to access services on base.
As of Monday, retirees and VA beneficiaries will receive access from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. daily to the commissary, Army and Air Force Exchange Services and medical facilities.
Masks are required, along with physical distancing and frequent hand-washing while on base.
“The coronavirus continues to threaten the welfare of everyone and disproportionately affects certain vulnerable demographics,” Col. Robert Masaitis, 27th Special Operations Wing commander, said in a statement from the base. “Protecting the health and safety of installation personnel and ensuring mission accomplishment remain an utmost priority. However, consistent local downward trends in viral spread provide an opportunity to expand base access to our retiree and VA beneficiary communities.”
