ENMU sophomore named all-American

PORTALES — Lindy’s Sports has named Eastern New Mexico University sophomore Mazin Richards a second-team preseason all-American, according to a school release.

Richards, a 6-2, 230-pound defensive end, was one of just four Lone Star Conference players placed on either of the two all-American teams. He was the LSC’s only representative at his position.

As a freshman, Richards led the conference with 12.5 sacks and was seventh with 14.5 tackles for loss.

Richards was honored after his freshman season with a second-team all-Lone Star Conference selection, and a Don Hansen all-Super Region Four third-team selection, as well.

The Greyhounds are scheduled to open the season at home Sept. 3 against New Mexico Highlands.
