COVID-19 concern closes Clovis city hall

CLOVIS — City Hall in Clovis is closed to the public after an employee displayed symptoms of COVID-19, according to a city news release.

“While the employee did not have contact with members of the public, out of caution, City Hall will be closed” until further notice, the release stated.

Clovis Municipal Court remains open.

The number of coronavirus cases in Clovis have more than doubled in the past 2 1/2 weeks, but few have required hospitalization.

Hospitals in Clovis and Portales reported they had zero coronavirus patients on Monday.

Monday marked the 18th consecutive day in which Curry County recorded at least one new case of COVID-19. The county had 68 positive tests reported on June 11, and 153 on Monday. Health officials are reporting 56 Curry County residents have recovered from the virus.

No Curry County residents have died from COVID-19.

Eleven regional deaths have been attributed to coronavirus, including eight in Parmer County. Texas officials have said seven of those deaths are connected to a nursing home in Friona.

City of Clovis officials said the public may still conduct city business while its doors are locked. According to the news release:
