Curry County on Friday recorded its second death related to COVID-19, while Bailey County reported it’s had three deaths this week connected to the virus.
Friday also marked the 43rd consecutive day Curry County has recorded at least one positive test for COVID-19 among residents.
A man in his 60s was the county’s latest COVID-19 victim, according to New Mexico’s Department of Health. He had been hospitalized, but no additional information was provided.
Muleshoe/Bailey County Emergency Management officials announced Thursday the county had seen two more virus fatalities — a 62-year-old female and an 87-year-old female.
Bailey County on Monday announced a 76-year-old female had died in connection with the virus.
New Mexico on Friday reported five additional COVID-19 deaths, bringing its total to 601 since the pandemic began.
Curry County had 234 active cases on Friday. The county has seen 345 positive tests overall, up from 123 one month ago.
The region has now recorded 15 COVID-19 deaths — two in Curry County, one in Roosevelt County, eight in Parmer County and four in Bailey County.
