Information on learning styles and writing, lactose intolerance and creating beautiful centerpieces will be the featured topics on “Creative Living” 9:30 p.m. Tuesday and noon Thursday (all times Mountain).
Writing coach and author Annalisa Parent says that many creative types experience frustration when their creativity won’t go in the direction they want it to. She’ll talk about learning styles, working in a “writing gym” environment and give examples of how to make writing easier. Her company is Date with the Muse and she lives in Colchester, Vermont.
Chef Rhonda Beyreis will talk about lactose intolerance and explain how it’s affecting Americans today. She also states that some people can get addicted to cheese. She plans to demonstrate making raw cheddar cheese sauce to use in lots of different types of recipes. Her company is Tranot and she’s from Phoenix.
Patty Waid, owner and operator of Waid & Associates, says creating beautiful centerpieces is like adding “jewelry” to your garment. She’ll present a close look at the basic elements of design that help to set the foundation for building centerpieces with a “wow” factor. Waid is from Albuquerque.
Information on making domino crafts, using an electric 12-needle felting machine and making greeting cards will be the featured topics on “Creative Living” noon Tuesday and 2 p.m. Saturday.
Designer and crafter Shannon Bielke will show how to use regular dominoes and a few simple craft products and turn them into jewelry, books, ornaments and more. Bielke’s company is Sha & Co. in Payson, Arizona.
Michele Muska is with the Simplicity Creative Group, and she’s going to demonstrate the new 12 needle deluxe electric felting machine as she quickly makes a felted fleece scarf. She is from Antioch, Tennessee.
Donna Salazar is a professional crafter and designer, and she’s going to show how to create greeting cards with removable paper hair flowers. Her business is Donna Salazar Designs in Irvine, California.
Raw cheddar cheese sauce
1 cup raw cashews (or 1/2 cup pine nuts and 1/2 cup macadamia nuts), well rinsed
1 cup HOT water
1 tsp. onion powder
1 tsp. sea salt
1/2 tsp. garlic powder
1/2 tsp. paprika
1/8 tsp. cayenne (to taste)
1/2 cup nutritional yeast flakes
1/4 cup canned pimientos, drained (or roasted red bell peppers)
1 tbsp. fresh lemon juice
Blend all the ingredients in a blender until smooth. Place nuts in food processor and process to a crumble. Add the rest of the ingredients to taste.
