Serving Clovis, Portales and the Surrounding Communities
CLOVIS — During the COVID-19 pandemic, many schools at all levels in New Mexico are holding off on in-person instruction.
Add Clovis Community College to that list.
The college plans to offer all academic classes online in the fall when the semester begins Aug. 24, and hopes to offer face-to-face classes in the second eight-week period that begins Oct. 19.
Robin Jones, vice president for academic affairs, told The News in late July that CCC hoped to move forward with hybrid and mixed modality classes, but testing waits of seven to 10 days created too many logistical hurdles.
“With an unavailability of rapid results testing, there was simply no way we could guarantee the health and safety of our students or staff,” Jones said. “For that reason, we made the difficult decision of moving our classes to an online format; however the students will still have interactive access with all instructors in those academic classes. We are looking forward to a successful semester for all of our students, and hope potential students will reach out to the advising staff to see what CCC has to offer our community.”
The second eight-week period, Jones said, will be subject to whatever public health orders are in place.
Anybody with questions can contact the Academic Advising department at 575-769-4020 or visit clovis.edu . The college is also staffing a mobile advising office the next two Saturdays at the North Plains Mall, located at the kiosk near the Hibbett Sports store. Appointments are required.
