RGH, clinics offering drive-thru flu shots

PORTALES — Roosevelt General Hospital and Clinics will offer a drve-thru flu shot event Oct. 17 in the RGH parking lot.

The event will go from 8 a.m.-11 a.m., but notes that flu vaccinations are limited. There is no cost for the event.

The hospital normally offers flu shots during its annual health fair, but has been unable to hold that event due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Last year, about 275 adults and 75 children received a flu shot at the fair. Only adult vaccinations will be available at the Saturday event.

“Our flu season begins next month, and we will be facing it in the midst of a pandemic,” RGH CEO Kaye Green said in a release. “It’s always important to get vaccinated against the flu, but this year it will be even more vital. Getting the flu shot keeps you and your family from needing medical attention and helps to conserve healthcare resources to those who are in urgent need.”
