Texico schools second in state

Texico Municipal Schools was ranked as the second-best school district in New Mexico by Niche.com.

Texico received A grades in seven categories — academics, teachers, diversity, administration, sports, food and health/safety. Three other categories — resources/facilities, college prep and clubs/activities — were rated as “B” grades.

Niche.com states it issues its grades and rankings by analyzing data and user opinions. Niche also ranks colleges, places to live and companies.

Los Alamos Public Schools was ranked No. 1 in the state, followed by Texico and San Jon.

A total of five schools in Curry or Roosevelt counties were in the top 30 — Grady fifth, Dora 10th, Elida 11th and Melrose 15th.

Remote learning workshops set

SANTA FE — The New Mexico Public Education Department is offering three virtual workshops to help parents support their children in remote learning.

The workshop series, created by Central New Mexico Community College’s Ingenuity program and funded by the PED, is available in English and Spanish at no cost.

Three three workshops are:

n “Survival 101 for Parents as Virtual School Partners” is available at cnmingenuity.org/parents-as-virtual-partners/

n “Reimagining Parent Engagement Leveraging Virtual Tools” will be offered 7 p.m. Thursday and 3:30 p.m. Friday. Registration is available at cnmingenuity.org/parents-as-virtual-partners/

n “Survival 102 for Parents as Virtual Partners” will be offered in mid-November, with registration still not open.
