1950: Home construction permits in Clovis were up in November from October, but fell far below November permits issued in 1949.
Officials said 24 construction permits were issued in Clovis in November 1950. They included new residence projects totaling $96,125.
That compared favorably from the previous month when 16 permits had been issued, including just two for new residences valued at $31,000.
But in November 1949, $181,300 worth of construction projects had been authorized by the city.
1975: A late surge of free throws led Clovis past Portales, 50-44, in high school basketball.
The Portales News-Tribune described the Rams as "tenacious" despite the loss.
About 400 people watched as the Rams "ran, pressed, pressured and fought the Wildcats tooth and nail for every rebound, loose ball and bucket," the paper reported.
Clovis' Bill Patton led the Wildcats in scoring with 15 points. Dana Davis scored 16 for Portales.
1975: Dark's retailer in Portales had announced its going-out-of-business sale would run through Christmas.
"Due to our recent burglaries we are going out of business," Dark's announced in a newspaper ad.
"All merchandise at a real steal."
Dark's, located at 700 S. Ave. C., offered the "lowest possible prices on jewelry, men's and women's clothes."

1960: "Father Knows Best" and "Rawhide" were among Friday night entertainment options for residents of eastern New Mexico who owned a television set.
The newspaper TV log was presented by B&B Radio and TV Lab at 115 W. Third in Portales.
B&B encouraged customers to "Come in and see a color TV demonstration."

1965: Chris Hanson, 17, of Tucumcari had been named state winner in the national 4-H tractor operator program. Hanson received his award from Miss Teenage America at a ceremony in Chicago.
