The first day of December marked the deadliest day for COVID-19 related deaths in the region since the pandemic began in March.
Health department officials reported four covid-related deaths in Curry County on Tuesday, in addition to one in Roosevelt County and two in Parmer County.
The five-county region has now seen 75 virus-related deaths.

New Mexico on Tuesday reported 21 virus-related deaths, bringing its total to 1,589.
New Mexico reported 909 patients in the state were hospitalized with COVID-19 on Tuesday; the state’s record was set Sunday with 919.
Plains Regional Medical Center in Clovis on Tuesday reported 27 patients with covid, including six in intensive care.
