FARWELL — The Farwell Steers placed six players on both the first-team offense and defense on the Class 2A Division I All-District 1 football teams.
Making the squad on offense for Farwell (7-4) were senior quarterback Leefe Actkinson, freshman running back Corey Stancell, junior lineman Hayden Claren, junior receiver Kolter Henderson, senior receiver Jose Rodriguez and junior tight end Wyatt Shearer. Honorees on defense were senior linemen Hector Cecena and Spencer Schilling; Henderson, freshman Carlos Castillo and sophomore Joe Crume at linebacker, and senior Guerrero Olmos in the secondary.
Farwell earned four spots on offense and three on defense on the second team. Named on offense were Olmos and Castillo at running back and Schilling and senior Luke Mitchell in the line, while the trio on defense included sophomore Dusty Dyck in the line, Stancell at linebacker and Rodriguez in the secondary.
The district MVP was senior quarterback Wes Jones of Panhandle. Co-offensive MVPs were quarterback Jack Allcorn of Olton and wide receiver Zion Marcer of Panhandle, while the defensive MVP was senior Aldo Vasquez of Olton.
District champion Panhandle tallied 23 selections overall, followed by Farwell (19), Olton (14), West Texas (10), Boys Ranch (7) and Sanford-Fritch (3).
