Clovis native gets nominations

WASHINGTON — A Clovis native received nominations to the U.S. Air Force Academy and the U.S. Naval Academy by U.S. House Assistant Speaker Ben Ray Luján, according to a release from Luján’s office.

Maxwell Aiello of Clovis was one of 10 nominations to each service academy, and one of 14 receiving at least one nomination.

Aiello was nominated for the Air Force Academy by Sen. Tom Udall in November. Nominated students will compete for admission to their service academy over the coming months. Those admitted will begin classes in the summer of 2021 as members of the class of 2025.

“Each year, I have the incredible honor of nominating talented young New Mexicans to our U.S. Service Academies. These outstanding students have a demonstrable record of excellence and service, and I know that they will continue making New Mexico proud,” Luján said in the release. “New Mexicans have always answered the call to serve, and I know that these students will continue that legacy.”
