Yo-Tea-Go moves, rebrands; BBQ shop closes Clovis location

A pair of businesses concluded operations at their Clovis locations this week, with one relocating and another concentrating on its flagship location.

The owners of Yo-Tea-Go are staying in Clovis, but are rebranding and moving into a new building on North Prince Street called The Haven Coffee and Tea Lounge. The new location will no longer sell frozen yogurt.

“We’ll have everything we have now, the bubble tea, the protein shakes, dispenser tea, but we’re expanding more on the espresso based drinks and hot teas. It’s going to be more of a server style, where people get to sit down and be waited on and they won’t have to stand and wait for their drink,” Denisha Cleare, who owns and runs Yo-Tea-Go alongside her father O.C., said.

Cleare said the idea for the lounge came to them about three years ago. They had originally thought it would happen in their original location, but decided otherwise when the strip mall was put up for sale.

“I wanted to have a stand alone building versus being in a strip mall because it can be awkward. People getting in here when it gets busy, you don’t know if people are coming in to you or if they’re going next door,” O.C. said. “Now when you’re coming to us (we know) you’re coming to us.”

She hopes that the new place will be a peaceful spot where people in the community can go to relax. The rebranded business will include the current staff and an additional two baristas.

Cleare hopes to open Wednesday.

Meanwhile, the Farwell-based BBQ shop decided to close its Clovis location on Friday. The business’ Facebook page included a post on the change. The shop retains its food truck, and is still open to Clovis catering.

“The decision wasn’t an easy one, we just feel like we can provide a better product along with more options in our restaurant than in the trailer,” the post said. “We hope that you will continue to support us by coming to Farwell where you can enjoy an indoor dining experience and some great Texas style BBQ.”
