Ranchvale fire department gets upgraded status

CLOVIS — The Ranchvale Volunteer Fire Department received an upgrade last week in its public protection classification, earning Class 7 status, according to a Curry County release.

The rating, the result of an Insurance Services Office Inc. inspection, has moved the department up from the Class 10 rating it had when it started up in 2018.

“Curry County congratulates and commends the Ranchvale Fire Department and the Ranchvale community for the hard work in improving the protection classification in such a short period of time,” County Manager Lance Pyle in the news release. “The county looks forward to the continued partnership and improvements in the area in the coming years.”

The ISO's Public Protection Classification ratings scale from 10 to 1, with 1 being the highest protection class. The ratings indicate a department’s performance and determine fire insurance rates for homeowners and businesses.
