Man gets six years after pleading to car thefts

CLOVIS — A 26-year-old Clovis man on Monday was sentenced to six years in prison after pleading guilty to multiple car thefts, according to District Attorney Andrea Reeb.

According to a news release from the DA:

Uriel Ramirez was convicted of seven counts of receiving or transferring a stolen motor vehicle, two counts of conspiracy to commit receiving or transferring a stolen motor vehicle, and one count of possession of a controlled substance.

Officials in October 2019 began investigating numerous vehicles reported stolen at night from regional ranches and dairies. Officials in Curry, Roosevelt and Parmer counties all were involved in the investigation.

In addition to six years in prison, Judge Drew Tatum sentenced Ramirez to five years probation and one year of parole. In addition, he is subject to a potential additional nine years of incarceration if he violates probation, Reeb said in the news release.
