Positive identifications for three people who died in a Tuesday house fire in Clovis are expected to be known by Friday.
Curry County Sheriff Wesley Waller said Thursday that the positive IDs and official causes of death were delayed "due to the conditions of the remains caused by the extensive fire."
"We are also awaiting toxicology findings and evidence analysis by the State Fire Marshal. Hopefully we will receive this information in the near future," Waller wrote in an email to The News.
Officials said Tuesday that three people died in the fire at 420 S. Wheaton. The cause of the fire remained under investigation. District Attorney Andrea Reeb said there was no obvious indication of foul play and the region's Major Crimes Unit was not activated as part of the investigation.
Waller said the fire was reported about 4 a.m. Tuesday by a neighbor and two passing motorists.
