LUBBOCK — Mark Adams is staying home.
The former lead assistant, and associated head coach, will be sitting at the front of the bench as he was named the Texas Tech head basketball coach late Monday night.
Texas Tech athletic director Kirby Hocutt, who informed the team of the news through Zoom, confirmed the news with the Avalanche-Journal.
Following the news, former players Norense Odiase, Tariq Owens and Matt Mooney praised the hire.
“He was someone I could always go talk to through the year,” Mooney said. “He helped me improve so much as a defender.”
Adams, a Brownfield native, had previous head-coaching stops at Clarendon College, Wayland Baptist, West Texas A&M and Howard College.
