Serving Clovis, Portales and the Surrounding Communities
PORTALES — The United Way of Eastern New Mexico selected Sara Williams of Clovis as its 2021 recipient of the Patricia Bazar Community Volunteer of the Year.
The award was announced during a Friday ceremony to mark National Volunteer Week.
A donation of $500 will be made in the name of Williams, who serves as Cannon Air Force Base’s school liaison officer, to the local charity of her choice.
Williams has additional duties as an ambassador for the Clovis/Curry County Chamber of Commerce, board membership with the United Way, the president of Leadership Clovis, and helps with volunteer efforts at Clovis High School and the 4-H Advisory Council.
The award was created in honor of Bazar, who died suddenly in 2017, to recognize broad volunteer service in the area. At the time of her passing, Bazar was a chamber ambassador and served in the Clovis Ministerial Alliance and El Desayno Kiwanis Club, and volunteered with the Clovis Music Festival and the Lighthouse Mission.
