Clovis police investigating Friday night homicide

CLOVIS — The Clovis Police Department is investigating a Friday homicide near Grand Street and Martin Luther King Boulevard.

The victim’s information was not immediately shared because of the victim’s age and an ongoing investigation.

According to a CPD release:

• The department received a call from a person who said they were being shot at. While responding to the scene, officers located a black Mercedes near Upsilon Street and Hagerman Avenue that had struck a power pole.

• Occupants of the Mercedes were taken to Plains Regional Medical Center, with one later declared dead.

• A second vehicle believed to be associated with the Mercedes delivered a gunshot victim to the hospital and fled the scene.

• An investigation of the original scene showed multiple gunshots were discharged in the area.
