More storms possible for region

Heavy rain, large hail and damaging winds, are possible across the region again today.

The National Weather Service is predicting severe thunderstorms this afternoon and evening, with more possible through the weekend.

Roosevelt County officials issued a news release warning storms could begin as early as noon to 3 p.m. today and continue through the night.

"This storm will be faster moving (than) the one this weekend so rainfall shouldn’t be as hard but as the streets are still recovering from this weekend's rain what rain we do get could cause additional flooding," the release stated.

Parts of Roosevelt County received more than 3 inches of rain on Saturday and the city of Portales saw more than 2 inches, much of it falling in about an hour.

The National Weather Service reported conditions for tornadoes are possible with this storm.
