Curry and Roosevelt counties both ended up in unwanted territory when COVID-19 infections were updated over the weekend by the New Mexico Department of Health.
Curry County confirmed 23 new cases of COVID-19 Monday, while Roosevelt County confirmed 14 in the DOH’s Monday report of 543 total cases. The report consolidates daily reports from Saturday, Sunday and Monday. There were also three deaths reported, none in Curry or Roosevelt.
Over the course of the three-day report, all 23 of Curry’s cases reside in the 88101 ZIP code in Clovis. That was the second-most for a ZIP code in the report, compared to 38 in the Albuquerque 87401 ZIP code. All 14 of Roosevelt’s cases reside in the 88130 ZIP code in Portales. It was the No. 8 ZIP code for COVID-19 cases.
In other COVID-19 developments:
• The state, as of Tuesday morning, confirmed that 63% of New Mexicans have received at least one COVID-19 vaccination dose and 52.2% are fully vaccinated.
In Curry County, 38% of residents have had at least one shot while 31.1% are fully vaccinated. Those numbers for Roosevelt County are 30.3% with at least one dose and 25.3% fully vaccinated.
