PORTALES — The former men's basketball coach at the University of New Mexico will visit Eastern New Mexico University today as part of the school's search for a new athletic director.
Paul Weir, who coached the Lobos for the last four seasons, will be at an 8:30 a.m. meet-and-greet at Courthouse Cafe (109 Main St.), followed by a 9:30 a.m. discussion at Greyhound Arena. Both events are open to the public.
University officials said Weir will be one of four candidates interviewed, and did not immediately identify the other candidates.
Weir is an overall 86-69 in five seasons at the Division I level, including a 28-6 record in his lone season as head coach at New Mexico State in 2016-17. He had been an assistant with the Aggie program since 2007. He holds a doctorate in educational leadership from NMSU and has taught at UNM’s Anderson School of Management.
