Serving Clovis, Portales and the Surrounding Communities
Clovis is home to a new business with a uniquely modern product - the "selfie."
Snap That, located at 1310 N. Main St., opened its doors this month. The business is designed like an interactive gallery with each wall boasting its own photo opportunity. Every room provides customers with multiple props and backdrops to set up their own creative photoshoots.
One room features a bed positioned on the wall so customers can seemingly defy gravity in the perfect bedroom selfie. Other displays feature backdrops from popular television shows, including "Stranger Things" and "Friends." There's a ball pit and an indoor beach. One room has wall to wall stuffed animals. There's even an 18-and-over room perfect for stag parties or a girls' night out.
Co-owners and Clovis natives Diana Gallegos and Adriana Romero are the mother-daughter duo who have brought the selfie studio to the area. The idea came to them after Romero visited a selfie museum in Denver. When the pair decided they could do something similar, the ideas kept flowing until Snap That was born.
"We're in an age of cell phones and selfies," said Gallegos, "(At Snap That) you can come out, take your crazy pictures, have fun with your family and then you know, you don't have to pay someone ... to take them for you."
"We had such a good time seeing all (the) different (things) and (were) amazed with (the) creativity with each room having a different scenario ... (We) will definitely be going back," said Clovis native Stella Chavez, an early customer.
Gallegos said the displays will be updated regularly for each holiday. The business even plans to open as a haunted house during the fall.
Hours of operation are Thursday and Friday, from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday from 1 p.m. to 10 p.m. Snap That is open Monday through Wednesday by appointment only.
Admission is $15 for ages 13 and up, $10 for ages 5-12, and free for anyone 4 and under. For birthday parties and other gatherings, group rates are available.
