Trippin' Again: See supernatural on Ghost Tours

Editor's note: As we begin to see COVID-19 in our rear-view mirrors, travelers are cautiously returning to the roads. This series offers destination options for eastern New Mexico-area residents looking to get away for a few days.

Imagine wandering ghosts up and down your street. Remnants of history and time are as vigorous as the people around you. At Albuquerque's History and Ghost Tours of Old Town, you have the opportunity to experience a historic ghost walk through Albuquerque's birthplace.

History and Ghost Tours has been New Mexico's most famous year-round walking tour since 2001. Participants explore the history, lore, and spooky stories of Albuquerque's birthplace, which was founded in 1706.

Tour guides are versed in all of the town's secrets and hidden gems and are prepared to share them with their guests. They use trivia, historical data and fun facts to share legends of Duke City.

With a combination of Spanish, Native American and Western cultures, the history tours take you through every aspect of Old Town Albuquerque. Tour guides take you through Frontier Town during Adobe days, with access to back stories, tales, and the characters that changed Albuquerque's history.

While daytime tours offer plenty of opportunities, only at night do the ghosts come out to play.

Ghost tours allow guests to stroll the quiet and darkened streets. Guides tell stories of characters who met an untimely demise, share haunted ghost stories and laughs on this night walk. Guests explore over three centuries of the town's life. This nightly walk has also been featured by shows including Weird Travels, The Dead Files, and Breaking Bad - Walter White's Funeral.
