• New Mexico Gross Receipts Tax Holiday — 12:01 a.m. Friday-midnight Sunday, no sales tax on certain items. Limitations apply. Clothing or shoes must be priced at less than $100 per unit. The price limit for desktop, laptop, tablets or notebook computers is $1,000, and for related computer hardware it is $500. Teams of 1-4 people will compete in a 24-hour smoking with results to be served to the public the afternoon of Aug. 21. Stick-burn smoking; no electric smokers. Teams of 15 people compete to pull a loaded milk tanker for the fastest time. Individuals compete in a men's and women's divisions for the fastest time to pull just a truck. Spectators welcome.
