ENMU Kappa Sigma chapter wins national award
PORTALES — Eastern New Mexico University’s Kappa Sigma chapter has earned the fraternity’s Founders Circle Award, recognizing its success as a scholarship, fellowship, and service leader.
Among the accomplishments of the 67 members of ENMU’s Theta-Zeta chapter were 3,400 hours of community service, more than $14,000 raised for charitable causes and a chapter GPA above the average ENMU male student GPA in both the fall 2020 and spring 2021 semesters.
The chapter also raised more than $22,500 for its Kappa Sigma Endowment Chapter Scholarship Fund, which provides scholarships to chapter members based on academic achievement, campus involvement and leadership within Kappa Sigma.
“The Founders Circle Award is the highest honor to receive from Kappa Sigma,” said Jesus Castillo, grand master of the Theta-Zeta chapter. “We work hard to give to the community and help our brothers become better men.”
The chapter also claimed the Founders Award of Chapter Excellence, which was awarded to 31 of the 300 total Kappa Sigma chapters and colonies in the U.S. and Canada.
