Serving Clovis, Portales and the Surrounding Communities

Our people: Attorney new to the area

Bradley H. Barton is a Clovis resident new to the area. But while he's only lived in Clovis since last year, he's no stranger to small-town living.

Barton grew up in Alton, Utah, and spent much of his childhood working on his family's cattle ranches in southern Utah and northern Arizona.

He attended Southern Utah University in Cedar City, Utah. After graduating, Barton spent several years traveling the world and lived in Saudi Arabia for two years. Upon his return to the States, he went to law school at Arizona State University in Phoenix.

Barton moved to Clovis last year, where he works as an assistant district attorney.

Question: What is your favorite thing about your career?

Barton: Luckily, I managed to select a career that I find enjoyable in several ways. However, the best part about prosecution is the ability to watch certain individuals successfully complete probation, rectify their mistakes, and exit the legal system with an improved character.

Q: What is your proudest accomplishment?

Barton: My law degree from ASU came at the cost of countless hours of study, consistency, and stress. While I look forward to other accomplishments in my life, I'm proud of the work I put into my education.

Q: If you could choose to do anything for a day, what would it be?

Barton: With the option of doing anything for a day, I would choose to sail on an old ship in the open sea. But, I would also request more than a day and sailing lessons.

Q: Who is your favorite author?

Barton: My favorite author is Jack London. I want to be one of those mysterious people who loves an obscure author, but Jack London is famous for a reason: his writing is really that good.

Q: What is the best gift you have been given?

Barton: A few years ago, some of my best friends took me on a surfing trip for two weeks. Their decision to give me that time out of their busy lives was the greatest gift.

Q: If you were a super-hero, what powers would you have?

Barton: I crave the power to time travel ... but, that's just because I make a lot of mistakes that I wish I could fix.

Q: What is the most interesting place you've ever visited?

Barton: Some of the world's most ancient petroglyphs can be found in the rocky hillsides near Ha'il Saudi Arabia; it's the most interesting place I've ever been lucky enough to explore.

Q: If you could only eat one meal for the rest of your life, what would it be?

Barton: Quesadillas ... especially if I'm allowed a variety of sauces or salsa.

Q: What is your favorite thing about Clovis?

Barton: Clovis has the simplicity of a quiet American town with the rough edges to keep it interesting.

A life is the embrace of comfort; an adventure is the rare embrace of challenges.
