Local road projects receiving more than $7.2 million

A trio of local road projects are receiving more than $7.2 million from a statewide pool of about $167.8 million from the New Mexico Department of Transportation.

A total of around 115 projects were tabbed for approval with the DOT’s Transportation Project Funds, according to a list sent to The News by Rep. Randy Crowder, R-Clovis.

The projects require a 5% match from the entities.

• Clovis will receive $5.9 million for the third phase of its Seventh Street renovations. City Manager Justin Howalt said the third phase will take the project from Maple to Main Street. Work includes widening, drainage, sidewalks, bike lanes, lighting, signing, striping, signals and Americans with Disabilities Access upgrades.

• Curry County will see $1.214 million for a two-mile stretch of Curry Road K. The segment between Curry Roads 7 and 9 will see reconstruction, pavement rehabilitation, improvements, blading, shaping and drainage improvements.

• Portales will receive $55,000 for improvements to 18th Street, with pavement rehabilitation to include micro-surfacing.
