CLOVIS — Eastern New Mexico residents with business — or pleasure — in Dallas-Fort Worth will have another travel option this fall.
Starting Nov. 1, the Clovis Regional Airport will offer passenger service to the Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport.
A news release from the city of Clovis states tickets will go on sale Oct. 1.
The Clovis airport, through Denver Air Connection, will continue to provide direct flights to Denver as well, the release said.
“DAC currently provides 12 non-stop round trips per week to the Denver International Airport using its 30-passenger Dornier 328 Jet aircraft,” according to the release. “In November, flight schedules will be split evenly between Dallas and Denver.”
Some area residents were disappointed last year to learn DAC would not be traveling to Dallas from Clovis as its predecessor, Boutique Air, had done since 2014. Officials said the U.S. Department of Transportation made the decision to change directions as part of the federally subsidized Essential Air Service operations.
Boutique made its final Clovis to DFW flight April 30 of last year, and DAC took over the following day.
“Denver Air Connection is driven first by the needs and wants of the communities we serve; adding DFW to Clovis air service is part of our commitment to you,” said Jon Coleman of Denver Air Connection in Tuesday's news release.
It wasn't immediately clear what times or days flights to Dallas might be offered. A woman who answered the phone for DAC on Tuesday said she didn't have any information on possible flight times. DAC's website — flyclovisnm.com — on Tuesday did not list Dallas options for scheduling.
DAC currently offers at least one flight daily to Denver.
