Curry receives credit report

CLOVIS — Curry County received an Aa3 rating in its latest report from Moody’s, according to a county release.

The Aa3 is the fourth-highest rating awarded in Moody’s long-term municipal obligation rating.

In a letter announcing the rating, Moody’s noted the county is in a strong financial picture with funds at 70.5% of operating revenues and a cash balance of 81.3% of operating revenues.

“We are very pleased to continue receiving the Aa3 rating of Moody’s Investor’s Services and this speaks volumes for our economy and conservative County financial practices,” County Manager Lance Pyle said in the release. “The county’s excellent credit rating is due entirely to the quality of the financial status of the county and its citizens. It is unfortunate that we have a slight impact due entirely to an issue beyond our control as the county is required to participate in the State of New Mexico Public Employees Retirement Association (PERA).
