CHS to begin reserved seat sales
The Clovis High School athletic office will begin sales of reserved seats for the 2021-22 Wildcat basketball season Oct. 18, according to a release from the office.
The first two weeks are reserved for last season’s reserved seat ticket holders, who can renew or relinquish their seats until Nov. 3. Any remaining seats will go on sale to the public, beginning Nov. 4. The office asks anybody who is relinquishing seats to contact the office prior to the deadline as a courtesy.
Seats may be purchased at the athletic office with a credit or debit card, or through Google Pay or Apple Pay. Seat costs are $135 apiece or $110 for active duty or retired military. Each seat includes a GoFan processing fee between $7.50 and $8.75). The military discount is limited to two seat purchases. Cash sales will not be permitted.
The purchase covers all regular season home games for the girls and boys seasons, which begin Nov. 27 and Dec. 4, respectively. Purchases do not cover district tournament or state playoff games.

Schools taking part in walking event
Three area schools are taking part in a celebration of National Walk to School Day, according to a release form the New Mexico Department of Transportation.
Elida Elementary, Floyd Elementary and R.M. James Elementary in Portales are among 34 elementary and middle schools registered at walkbiketoschool.com.
The NMDOT encourages drivers to look out for pedestrians and cyclists, and use National Walk to School Month as a reminder of safe driving.
“The NMDOT values active transportation,” Transportation Secretary Mike Sandoval said in the release. “Walk to School Day events emphasize the need to create safer routes for walking and bicycling and highlights the importance of pedestrian safety, increasing physical activity among children, traffic congestion and concerns for the environment. The events build connections between families, schools and the broader community.”
Participation will fit within local public health guidance.
