Serving Clovis, Portales and the Surrounding Communities
CLOVIS — Local municipalities have partnered to host the inaugural Curry/Roosevelt Counties of Eastern New Mexico Alzheimer’s Walk.
The walk is scheduled for 10 a.m.-noon Saturday at the Curry County Events Center. Walkers are asked to wear purple at the event, and encourage others to join.
The New Mexico chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association will be offering Alzheimer’s flowers for those walking in honor of somebody or to show support for someone living with Alzheimer’s disease or care taking for somebody with the disease.
“I am so grateful this event is taking place,” Roosevelt County Commissioner Chair Tina Dixon said in a release. “Alzheimer’s is such a devastating disease, not only for the person with it, but also the family members. I have two family members suffering from Alzheimer’s and I can tell you first hand watching the deterioration and struggle to remember even day-to-day life is heartbreaking.”
