State reports COVID-19 cases rising

SANTA FE — The state continued to report more COVID-19 cases from one weekend to the next, with Monday’s report detailing 3,712 new infections between Friday and Monday.

The state total includes 22 additional deaths from COVID-19, with none from Curry or Roosevelt counties.

Curry County had 51 new cases, and did not reach the top 10 ZIP codes for cases. Roosevelt County reported six cases.

The report marks the second-straight weekend of rising case counts, following the Nov. 1 report of 2,630 and the Nov. 8 report of 3,370.

Five counties reported triple-digit infection counts over the weekend, while Bernalillo County recorded a four-digit total with 1,009 new cases. The next highest counties were San Juan with 580, Dona Ana with 566 and Otero with 241.

Of the state’s 33 counties, 32 reported as least one new case. The only holdout was Mora County.

The state reported 498 hospitalizations, up from last Monday’s 425, and a statewide test positivity rate of 12.7%.

Since the pandemic began in March 2020, the state has reported 295,767 cases, 5,191 deaths and 254,476 designated recoveries.
