Biden hasn’t been ‘getting things done’

Regarding Tom McDonald’s editorial Wednesday that praised Joe Biden for “getting things done:”

Only a person ignorant of America’s founding principles and destiny would applaud Biden’s Afghanistan pull out.

This nation has been a bulwark of freedom and justice that has offered refuge to many millions of oppressed peoples throughout the world. In our 20 years in Afghanistan we introduced a society with equal education and much improved treatment for women. By 2021 there were more than 270 women judges there. Now they are in hiding. Educators who taught women have been tortured and killed. We built a military there that depended upon us and was becoming stronger against tyrannical oppression of the Taliban.

Then we just left. That’s the same as a husband who builds a home and family and then decides to leave after 20 years in the middle of the night without having assured that his wife and children would be able to provide for themselves.

We broke a covenant with that nation and we abandoned our people and our allies. We’ve kept bases in Japan and Germany, but did not even keep one base there to assure the influence of freedom and justice would remain. That is not an accomplishment in any sense of the word.

And the rest of Biden’s work is the same -- no deep thought or planning to the repercussions of what he is doing. Leading a nation away from godly standards and principles is meant to destroy us.

The Democrats will continue to lose because they have lost their minds. They actually believe the ignorance and deception being fed to them by people in media like Tom McDonald.

May we turn from these godless influences and search out the truth. God help us.

Buy local this holiday season

Are you ready, New Mexico? It’s holiday season … A time for joy, family, friends and fun. It can also be a time of great stress and anxiety when it comes to searching for food, beverages and gifts. However, it doesn’t have to be that way.

New Mexico is home to some fabulous food products we all enjoy. These products make the perfect holiday gifts for family and friends.

New Mexico is fortunate to have farmers and ranchers who produce world-famous products. From beef, lamb, chile, pecans, pistachios, wine and craft beers to distilled spirits, our state’s agriculture industry offers products we all enjoy. Don’t forget about our cheese and locally processed coffee products. There are also many local craft-makers who sell their creations at local markets.

Every community has local, family owned stores where you can pick up these products or have them shipped to your family and friends. Agriculture is a key component of our state’s economy, and in many counties, it is the primary economic driver. Local products can serve as the backbone for a growing local economy.

The national news continues to report challenges with the supply chain, shipping delays and more. Forget all of that. Buy local. Share local products. See the smiles on the faces of your friends and family as they enjoy New Mexico’s great products! Make this a wonderful, local, traditional holiday season. Enjoy what is unique and special about New Mexico and share that with others.

Police deserve better pay

I would like to challenge all city government administration and elected officials in Clovis:

Suit up and get in a police patrol unit and get started today.

Also I would like to see if any of them could graduate the New Mexico Police Academy, go through SWAT training, and see if they still think the police pay rate is worth it.

Do you think a police officer should start at $17.80 an hour while an internet technology director starts at $70,000 a year?
