State confirms more than 1,400 new COVID-19 cases Wednesday

SANTA FE — The New Mexico Department of Health confirmed 1,409 new COVID-19 cases on Wednesday, including 17 in Curry County and 20 in Roosevelt County.

The cases pushed the state to 308,091 cases since the start of the pandemic last March, with 5,310 deaths. The state reported 21 deaths Wednesday, none from Curry or Roosevelt counties.

DOH did not provide Thursday or Friday updates.

So far for November, both local counties have seen an uptick in cases compared to the prior month. Between Nov. 1 and Wednesday, with seven days left to go in the month, Curry County had confirmed 390 cases while Roosevelt County confirmed 211.

For October, with reports including the first day of November, Curry County recorded 350 cases and Roosevelt County 189.

Curry County recorded 869 cases in August and 741 in September, while Roosevelt County recorded 304 cases in August and 192 in September.
