SANTA FE — The New Mexico Secretary of State’s website is hosting a clearinghouse of voting district information as the New Mexico Legislature begins a special session on Monday to redraw district lines for Congressional, New Mexico Legislature and Public Education Commission seats.
The website allows users to work with Geographic Information System data that can match demographic information to standard county maps. The information could be useful to legislators, public bodies, and the public at large, according to a news release issued Friday from the Secretary of State’ office.
The University of New Mexico Earth Data Analysis Center provided data collection and data processing support for the Secretary of State’s office, using funds from the federal Help America Vote Act.
The maps and data in the clearinghouse are reflective of current districts prior to the redistricting process that will begin Monday, the news release stated, but will be updated to reflect changes made in the legislative special session.
