Serving Clovis, Portales and the Surrounding Communities
CLOVIS — Weather permitting, the city of Clovis is hopeful to have Thornton Street work complete in connection with its effluent water pipeline project.
City Manager Justin Howalt said the city had initially hoped to finish the job in late November, but that hit a snag when a water line break occurred and flooded a trench line.
Final paving, Howalt said, could start and end within the week, depending on the weather.
The effluent project is water conservation infrastructure that provides non-potable water to schools and municipal properties so tasks like watering fields and spraying down dust at the landfill don’t require potable water. The city is currently working on building the pipeline to Colonial Park Golf Course. That will be the substantial completion point, though some laterals are still pending.
