CLOVIS — In light of a social media post threatening schools across the country on Friday, Clovis Municipal Schools conducted instruction for the entire day in its Secure and Teach mode.
The post, which was discovered on the TikTok app and did not originate locally, was referred to the Clovis Police Department as a precaution. A Thursday release from the district announcing the plans noted additional police presence at CMS buildings may take place.
Clovis Superintendent Renee Russ said Friday afternoon there were no incidents that arose in connection to the post and that the district was thankful for the aid it received from law enforcement.
Under Secure and Teach interior and exterior doors are secured, students remain in one location, and class is conducted as usual. The status is initiated to allow for an investigation or substantiation of information received regarding a possible danger. The status is similar to what was previously called a Level 1 lockdown, except movement within the building is more limited.
