ENMU gets early break for holidays

PORTALES — Eastern New Mexico University’s basketball teams are getting an early break for Christmas.

The Greyhounds had two home games on tap this week for both men’s and women’s squads, but none will be played.

Both teams were slated to host Hot Springs, Ark.-based Champions Christian College, a National Christian College Athletic Association member, on Thursday at Greyhound Arena, with the men tipping off first in a 10 a.m. start. Those games were canceled, the school said.

ENMU’s women were slated to welcome fellow Lone Star Conference member Cameron on Tuesday while the men were to take on the Aggies on Saturday in non-league matchups. Those games were reset for 6 p.m. on Jan. 24 for the men and at a time to be determined on Jan. 31 for the women.

The next outings for both contingents will be in LSC openers on Jan. 31 at Texas A&M International, followed two days later by contests at Texas A&M-Kingsville. ENMU’s teams return to Greyhound Arena for tilts against Oklahoma Christian on Jan. 6 and Arkansas-Fort Smith on Jan. 8.
