Police: No criminal action in death

CLOVIS — A Clovis resident was found deceased Dec. 6 in a field off of Brady Street, and law enforcement believes no criminal action took place.

John Wilson, 77, was discovered in the field near the Clovis Fire Department station just before noon Dec. 6, according to incident reports.

Police released the reports Thursday in response to a public records request from the Eastern New Mexico News. An inquiry sent by The News to the CPD the afternoon of Dec. 6 was not returned.

According to the incident reports:

• Representatives with the Office of the Medical Investigator estimated Wilson’s time of death between midnight and 1 a.m. Officers believed Wilson either froze or had a medical incident.

• On Wilson’s body was his driver’s license, and a visit to the address listed on the license did not yield any contacts.

• Police were able to make contact with a person who used to date Wilson, and she told police she had no knowledge of any living relatives.
