Man accused of assault with machete

CLOVIS — A Clovis man is facing assault charges for an alleged aggravated assault involving a machete.

Troy Shaw, 57, was booked into the Curry County Adult Detention Center Tuesday after a report of a disturbance on the 200 block of Ruth. He remains there without bond, and is due to make his first appearance Tuesday morning in Curry County Magistrate Court.

According to a criminal complaint filed Wednesday in the magistrate court:

* Law enforcement responded to the Ruth Street house and found Shaw and another male outside. A female exited the houes and told police Shaw was chasing her son with a machete. Shaw was detained while the property was investigated.

* Shaw, who bonded out of the jail Dec. 27 on a charge of battery on a household member, with conditions of release requiring he stay at least 100 feet away from the residence in question.

An attempt by The News to contact Shaw’s attorney Friday was unsuccessful.
