Clovis students to work from home Thursday

Clovis Municipal Schools will not conduct in-person instruction on Thursday due to ongoing staff shortages coupled with forecasts of pending inclement weather, CMS officials announced Tuesday.

“While staffing shortages across the district continue to improve, thanks to an outpouring of support from the community, the decision was made to shift to asynchronous learning because of the added challenges created when shortages are combined with potential severe weather,” a school news release read.

Instruction will be conducted asynchronously, which means students will work independently from home at the direction of their classroom teacher, the release stated.

Grab & Go Meals will not be served Thursday.

In-person instruction is expected to resume Friday.

Forecasters are calling for 2-3 inches of snow throughout the day Wednesday, with temperatures near zero on Wednesday and Thursday nights.
